Desta’s 20+ years of experience in design practice have encompassed a range of public and private sector projects, including libraries, schools, community centers, banks, dance studios, corporate cafeterias, medical and veterinary offices, and corporate tenant improvements. Her expertise includes programming; project management; user interface/knowledge gathering; space planning; furniture and finish material selection, specification, and detailing; and construction administration.

She is known for going beyond obtaining basic client building program information, pursuing deeper questions that are truly at the heart of the client’s facility needs. She then translates that information into innovative designs that exceed expectations. Her design work is known for its’ creative use of space, light, and materials, while providing highly functional solutions to maximize challenging spaces and budgets.

Desta taught Construction Cost Estimating for Interior Design at West Valley College. She has extensive experience in public and private sector programming, design, and FF & E. She received her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from San Jose State University.

steve krong

Steve has been practicing Architecture in California for over 20 years and is a licensed Architect. His wide-ranging experience has ranged from a $150M+ fast track high tech clean room campus to residential design. Additional project experience includes libraries, theaters, retail, historic façade work, office/tenant improvements, restaurant, hotel, and multi-family residential. His expertise includes project management, team leadership, public presentation / community outreach, master planning, public agency project processing and implementation, and a thorough understanding of zoning, building and fire codes.

In addition, Steve has extensive experience in public building design, and helped lead a presentation on library design for a workshop at the 2008 California Library Association conference in San Jose.

As a LEED accredited professional and USGBC member, Steve is well versed in sustainable building design and implementation. He has taught both architecture and interiors at West Valley College, and has been a guest instructor at San Jose State University. He received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, spending a year in the Department of Architecture Exchange Abroad in Versailles, France.
